Xu Lei is a post-doctoral researcher in the area of building energy prediction and optimal control. His major lies in the interdisciplinary sciences including machine learning, control and decision theory, building physics, and statistical and experimental methods. He holds a Bachelor degree in applied thermal engineering, MSc degree in building technology, a PhD in building energy and system automation.

His research combines building physics and machine learning techniques for energy projection and proactive policies for climate resilience. Lei believes a well simulated built thermal environment and proactive policies can better prepare city in terms of climate change.
