{"id":17582,"date":"2025-04-27T20:02:37","date_gmt":"2025-04-27T12:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/arch\/?post_type=ac-research&#038;p=17582"},"modified":"2026-04-27T20:06:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T12:06:23","slug":"assessment-and-quantification-of-the-social-value-of-singapores-twentieth-century-architectural-heritage","status":"publish","type":"ac-research","link":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/arch\/arclab\/research-practice\/assessment-and-quantification-of-the-social-value-of-singapores-twentieth-century-architectural-heritage\/","title":{"rendered":"Assessment and quantification of the social value of Singapore\u2019s twentieth-century architectural heritage"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n\t<p>Funded by the Ministry of Singapore&#8217;s Academic Research Fund (AcRF) Tier 1 Grant (March 2023 to March 2025), Dr Nikhil Joshi and Qin Junjie have been working on a research project focused on the social values of historic buildings in Singapore.<\/p>\r\n<p>The project began as part of Junjie&#8217;s MAArC dissertation,\u00a0under the guidance of Dr Nikhil Joshi &amp; Prof Ho Puay-peng. In June 2023, she presented her paper at the &#8220;Past and Present &#8211; Built and Social&#8221; international conference on Culture, History, Art and Design. This conference is organised by Czech Technical University in Prague. Her research paper will be later published in the academic journal, Architecture_MPS by UCL Press.<\/p>\r\n<p>As her research progressed, she presented her ongoing research at the international conference on &#8220;Cities&#8217; Identity through Architecture &amp; Arts&#8221; in 2024. The conference was held in Cagliari University in Sardinia as the main host, and in collaboration with Pisa University.<\/p>\r\n<p>In 2025, she presented her paper titled: &#8220;Buildings&#8217; Memories as Social Resilience\u200b: Leveraging on the Social Value of Shopping Centres\u200b&#8221; at the University of Greenwich, London, in the London Heritages 2025 Conference.<\/p>\r\n\r\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","ac-research-practice-category":[29],"class_list":["post-17582","ac-research","type-ac-research","status-publish","hentry","ac-research-practice-category-social-value","entry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/arch\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ac-research\/17582","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/arch\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ac-research"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/arch\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/ac-research"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/arch\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=17582"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"ac-research-practice-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/arch\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ac-research-practice-category?post=17582"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
