HFM-RP1: Wearable Microneedle Patch for the Minimally Invasive Wireless Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Principal Investigator: Professor Lim Chwee Teck, BM

Diabetes, one of the top 10 causes of death, affects more than 450 million patients globally in 2019. As there is no cure for diabetes and abnormal blood glucose level can lead to serious health problems, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is significant for both diagnosis and therapy purposes. However, current commercialized products are non-continuous, invasive, rigid or expensive. To address these issues, we propose a wearable flexible microneedle-based minimally invasive glucose monitoring system that is highly accurate, reliable, and inexpensive with long-term usability.
