R. Brian Stone is an Associate Professor, Deputy Head of Academic, and Director of the Communication Design Hub at the Division of Industrial Design, National University of Singapore. His award-winning work and teachings are centred in the areas of motion design, interaction design, information visualisation, and user experience. Professor Stone is the co-organiser of the bi-annual MODE Summit, an international conference bringing together motion design educators to present research and discuss how the discipline enhances, effects, and impacts communication. He is also the co-editor of a collection of essays entitled, The Theory and Practice of Motion Design: Critical Perspectives and Professional Practice, published by Routledge.

Professor Stone has held visiting appointments at the Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial (ESDI) in Brazil and Universidad Americana Managua, Nicaragua (UAM). Apple recognised Professor Stone’s teaching with the Apple Distinguished Educator award. He is also a recipient of The Ohio State University’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, the Order of Omega Faculty Recognition Award, the Ratner Distinguished Teaching Award, and the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award (ATEA).

With a Bachelor’s degree in design from The University of the Arts and a Master’s from The Ohio State University, he energetically leads teams to thoughtful, innovative, user-centred solutions.
