Vedpal Arya is a research fellow at Centre for Next Generation Ports (C4NGP) in the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He earned his PhD and Masters in Industrial Engineering at IIT Delhi. He has been a visiting researcher at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland. At IIT Delhi, he worked on several research projects in a multidisciplinary team including ‘Nationally evolved project on the development of selected medical implants’ funded by the government agencies. While there, his research focused on the interface of production and industrial engineering involving development of affordable medical device and its commercialization, process improvement and studies concerning value addition in medical device supply chain.
Arya has developed some understanding in several areas of research such as supply chain management, medical decision making, warehousing and logistics, digital twin technology, collaborative networks and reverse logistics. While being at C4NGL, he is involved in academic as well as practitioner research with the industry partners. His co-authored research appears in Computers and Industrial Engineering, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, Benchmarking and he also serves as a reviewer in various journals like International Journal of Production Research, Transport Policy, International Journal of Logistics Systems Management. Apart from the professional domain, he enjoys exploring entrepreneurship, ideas on social upliftment, environment, education to bring change and transform the societies, issues of national and global importance.
