Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Ageing Research in the Environment, NUS

The Centre for Ageing Research in the Environment (CARE) is a research centre in the School of Design and Environment, National University of Singapore. Its research covers various aspects pertaining to environments for ageing and healthcare, particularly in interdisciplinary collaboration. The Centre is recruiting Postdoctoral Research Fellows to undertake research and manage research projects in ageing and healthcare in an urban environment. Postdoctoral Research Fellows are expected to coordinate various research activities in the Centre, such as preparing of research proposals and grant submissions, managing relationships with stakeholders, liaising with government agencies and other research organisations, and organising outreach and related activities. As a senior researcher, the Research Fellow's assigned tasks would include managing data collection, assessing data validity, undertaking advanced data analysis, writing research reports and papers for publications. The Research Fellow is also expected to guide junior and student researchers, conduct occasional educational or instructional activities, organise workshops and other duties as assigned.

The Postdoctoral appointment is for a period of two (2) years. The candidate should have the following qualifications and qualities:

  • A PhD degree in Architecture, Built Environment, Urban Design, Healthcare, or other related discipline;
  • A deep interest in research relating to ageing, healthcare, urban design, community design, and high-density housing (relevant experience is preferred);
  • A strong motivation to advance knowledge and undertake impactful research;
  • Forward thinking and a keen interest to pursue new and innovative research ideas;
  • Good analytical thinking and a strong foundation in research methods;
  • Ability to manage and undertake research independently and to carry out complex multi-disciplinary assignments;
  • Ability to work as part of a research team
