The annual international competition supports innovation in offshore wind energy by giving students practical experience in developing floating support structures for wind turbines. This year\u2019s final round brought together 12 teams from around the world in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rh\u00f4ne, France, including our undergraduate team from Civil Engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Comprising Year 2 students Adam Dao Foong Teng, Benn Low, Darren Fortino Tan, Fransiska Halim Santoso, Jillene Lai and Duong Thu Minh L., together with Year 3 student Wilson Soo, Team PEARLOS was guided by Asst Prof Yuzhu Pearl Li and PhD Candidate Carlos P\u00e9rez Moreno. The team advanced to the finals with a floating wind platform designed to support a 500W Vevor wind turbine, and prepared for the competition through fabrication, report writing and wave basin testing at TCOMS \u2013 Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, Singapore.
