The Best Poster Award, one each for NUS and NU, was judged to be the most innovative and promising research work among the 30 poster entries from the various engineering departments of the 2 Universities.<\/p>\n<p>Supervised by Associate Professor Chin Hoong Chor, the study entitled \u201cExploratory Analysis of the Relationship between Kinematic Indicators and Driving Behaviour\u201d examined the influence of aggressive driving behaviour on vehicle kinematics. Based on kinematic data taken from the on-board unit of an experimental vehicle manoeuvring through various driving scenarios, several kinematic features (such as lateral acceleration, deceleration jerk, mean pitch velocity, maximum yaw rate, yaw angular deceleration and rate of change in heading direction) were found to be significantly associated with aggressive driving behaviour. The research has the potential for the development of a real-time advisory system to identify high-risk driving behaviour and hazardous traffic situations.
