Joint Workshop on Sustainable Integrated Thermal Energy Systems (SITES) for Low Carbon District

Led by Associate Professor PS Lee, deputy director of Centre for Energy Research and Technology, a Joint Workshop on SITES for Low Carbon District was held in NUS on 4thAugust 2016.

The main objective of this workshop was to determine the interest level of industry and government agency on four key proposed work packages:

  1. Low Energy Cooling System for Building
  2. Renewable Energy
  3. Enhanced Thermal Energy Storage
  4. System Modelling and Optimization

In order to ensure the focus technology under the four work packages are deployable, NUS Office of Facility Management (OFM) has agreed with the integration of the proposed technology into its Campus Master Plan – enabling the campus to be used as a living lab. This test bedding and demonstration serves as a pilot to prove it is possible to integrate the proposed technology together in an actual working environment. OFM have identified three potential test sites for this SITES project, primarily the University Town (UTown), Central Library and Prince George Park Residences (PGP).
