\n\t\t\t\t\n\tOn 5 March 2025, CFI Singapore hosted Dr. Niels Gj\u00f8l Jacobsen for an insightful seminar on integrating small-scale in-canopy processes with regional spectral dissipation models. With 30 attendees, the session provided a deep dive into novel approaches to wave attenuation and sediment transport modeling in vegetated coastal environments.\nDr. Jacobsen introduced independent closure coefficients as user inputs, eliminating the reliance on lab-derived coefficients-marking a significant step forward in coastal modeling. He also presented a stem-averaged numerical model capturing in-canopy velocity profiles, turbulence, and bed shear stresses. The discussion highlighted the importance of accurate modeling in mitigating risks and enhancing coastal resilience.\nThe seminar concluded with a look at ongoing collaborative research efforts to refine quantitative modeling techniques for natural and nature-based coastal habitats. Attendees engaged in lively discussions on practical applications of these advancements in engineering and environmental conservation.\n
