The research seeks to quantify how near-shore dynamics evolve and interact under the influence of climate change, contributing to more accurate predictions and resilient coastal planning.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h2>Research Goals<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li data-start=\"1893\" data-end=\"1966\">Develop advanced CFD models to simulate coupled near-shore processes.<\/li>\r\n<li data-start=\"1967\" data-end=\"2070\">Integrate CFD models with phase-resolving, potential-flow-based models for efficiency and accuracy.<\/li>\r\n<li data-start=\"2071\" data-end=\"2209\">Conduct experiments in the NUS Hydraulic Laboratory and TCOMS Large-Scale Ocean Basin to validate and refine numerical models.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>Why It Matters<\/h2>\r\n<ul data-start=\"2266\" data-end=\"2689\">\r\n<li data-start=\"2266\" data-end=\"2368\">Addresses how climate change may intensify coastal processes such as waves, currents, and erosion.<\/li>\r\n<li data-start=\"2369\" data-end=\"2544\">Provides tools for designing and planning sustainable coastal infrastructure by accurately assessing interactions between coastal environments and man-made structures.<\/li>\r\n<li data-start=\"2545\" data-end=\"2689\">Generates insights vital for implementing climate-resilient coastal protection measures to safeguard communities along Singapore&#8217;s shores.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>Latest Research Highlights<\/h2>\r\n<p><strong>Mangrove Modelling for Coastal Protection<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Developed a high-fidelity numerical model of Rhizophora mangrove roots with an integrated sediment transport module to simulate flow and sediment dynamics under both uniform and oscillary flow conditions.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><strong>Wave Attenuation by Muddy Seafloors<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Created a physics-based model that accurately reproduces wave decay patterns and energy loss, validated through laboratory and field-scale simulations. The model successfully predicts spectral shape and energy loss during real storm events on the Atchafalaya inner shelf without adjusting rheological parameters.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<div style=\"width:
