A/P Yan Ning and A/P Zhao Dan appointed as Dean’s Chair

Associate Professors Yan Ning and Zhao Dan have been appointed as Dean’s Chair in the Faculty of Engineering with effect from 1 January 2021. The appointments of the Dean’s Chair are in recognition of their outstanding and impactful scholarly accomplishments.

Prof. Yan’s research uses heterogeneous catalysis to transform shrimp shell, woody biomass, carbon dioxide (CO₂) and other cheap/waste substrates into valuable products. Prof. Yan has received many awards, including NUS Young Researcher Award (2019), ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Lectureship Award (2018), and RSC Environment, Sustainability and Energy Early Career Award (2017).

Prof. Zhao’s research develops new Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) materials for a wide range of applications, including CO₂ separation from flue gas, natural gas storage, and desalination. The numerous awards Prof. Zhao received include NUS Young Researcher Award (2019), NUS Engineering Young Researcher Award (2017), and Global Chinese Chemical Engineers Symposium Outstanding Youth Award (2017).
