This annual recognition honours researchers who have demonstrated significant and far-reaching influence in their field of research.

Compiled by data analytics firm Clarivate, the annual list uses quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify researchers who demonstrate significant impact and influence in their chosen field by publishing several highly cited papers during the last decade. The names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top one per cent by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science™ citation index. According to Clarivate, Highly Cited Researchers contribute disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and innovations that make the world healthier, richer, more sustainable and more secure.

Professor Liu Bin, NUS Deputy President (Research and Technology), said, “We are extremely proud of our brilliant researchers whose work is making a global impact, advancing knowledge in their fields, and driving new frontiers in science and innovation. Their achievements demonstrate the strength of NUS’ research and its role in inspiring positive change globally.”

Congratulations to the following researchers from the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering for their contribution to innovation and societal progress in the following fields:

Chemistry

Professor Liu Bin

Professor Lin Zhiqun

Professor Yan Ning

Cross-Field

Assistant Professor Hou Yi

Associate Professor Sibudjing Kawi

Professor Wang Chi-Hwa

Adjunct Associate Professor Wang Xiaonan

Professor Xie Jianping

Professor Zhao Dan

Nine researchers from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering have been placed among the world’s most influential scientific minds, based on the Highly Cited Researchers™ 2025 List published by data analytics firm Clarivate.
