(Chemical Engineering). The specialisation will expose students to the various fundamental and technological principles of biotherapeutics manufacturing. The courses listed under this specialisation will provide practical and industrial exposure to students. Students pursuing this specialisation will be employable in a diverse range of major sectors in Singapore including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, health care and life sciences.<\/p>\n<p>The broad learning outcomes of this specialisation are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Gain in-depth understanding of the fundamental and technological principles applied in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.<\/li>\n<li>Understand that biological processes\/products are systems of many interacting, possibly interconnected components.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the learned concepts to the design, optimization and operation of biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Appreciate the roles and responsibilities of chemical engineers in biopharmaceutical industry.<\/li>\n<li>Work and collaborate with team members in group projects.<\/li>\n<li>Learn effective oral and written technical communication skills.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"void(0);\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">Programme Structure for Cohorts till 2024\/2025<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\"><i>Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Structure of the Programme<\/h3>\n<p>Students will need to complete 20 units according to the following requirement:<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th colspan=\"3\"><strong>Requirement &#8211; 20 units | Four-Five Technical Electives<\/strong><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"160\">Four-Five Electives (20 units)<\/td>\n<td colspan=\"2\" width=\"714\">*CN4119 Final Year Design Project (8 units)<br \/>\nCN4218 Particle Technology Fundamentals and Applications<br \/>\nCN4233R Good Manufacturing Practices in Pharmaceutical Industry<br \/>\nCN4247R Enzyme Technology<br \/>\nCN4249 Engineering Design in Molecular Biotechnology<br \/>\nCN5172 Biochemical Engineering<br \/>\nCN5173 Downstream Processing of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Products<br \/>\nBN4304 Engineering Strategies for for Gene and Cell Manufacturing<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>*Final Year Design project is included as an elective course with the aim of exposing students to industrial design and simulation tools.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Double-counting of Specialisation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>For each Specialisation, up to 8 units (40% of the unit requirements for a Specialisation) may be double counted and used to meet (i) the Specialisation requirement and (ii) another requirement, e.g., General Education (only for students admitted from AY2021\/2022 onwards), College (e.g., Common Curriculum), Faculty, Second Major, Minor, Specialisation or other requirement, i.e., at least 12 units of the Specialisation must be distinct and not overlapping <a id=\"LPlnk169357\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nus.edu.sg\/registrar\/academic-information-policies\/undergraduate-students\/special-programmes\/specialisations\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nus.edu.sg\/registrar\/academic-information-policies\/undergraduate-students\/special-programmes\/specialisations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">https:\/\/www.nus.edu.sg\/registrar\/academic-information-policies\/undergraduate-students\/special-programmes\/specialisations<\/a><\/li>\n<li>If you intend to do a double specialisation, you are\u00a0<b>not allowed\u00a0<\/b>to use CN4119 from the first specialisation (e.g. Process Engineering Specialisation) to be double counted towards the second specialisation (e.g. Biopharmaceutical Engineering Specialisation). The courses listed under this specialisation will provide practical and industrial exposure to students. Students pursuing this specialisation will be employable in a diverse range of sectors in Singapore including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, health care and life sciences. The common roles students take up include production engineer, project engineer, formulation scientist, quality control officer, quality assurance officer etc.<\/p>\n<h3>Admission Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>Students admitted to B.Eng.
