4th International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (IC2UHI) 2016

MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY, 30 MAY to 1 JUNE 2016

The Sustainable Buildings Cluster has successfully hosted the Fourth International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (4th IC2UHI) in University Town, NUS. The theme of this IC2UHI was "Fighting urban heat island (UHI) and climate change through mitigation and adaptation". IC2UHI has attracted close to 300 paper presentation and 250 international delegates coming from 26 countries. All accepted papers were included and indexed in the electronic conference proceedings with Elsevier. Selected papers, which had undergone the peer-review process, will be published in a special issue of Energy and Buildings: Countering Urban Heat Island (UHI) and Climate Change through Mitigation and Adaptation, Journal of Urban Climate as well as Journal of Landscape and Urban Planning.Many notable local and international keynote speakers were invited to share their knowledge on specific issues on Urban Heat and Climate Change.

NUS and CDL partner to develop novel technologies for smart, green living

 TUESDAY, 22 MARCH 2016

The National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Design and Environment and City Developments Limited (CDL) today announced their partnership in promoting innovations in smart, green building technologies. CDL made a gift of S$2.25 million to the School to establish two new research laboratories dedicated to the study of smart building technologies for indoor and outdoor environments, and to provide funding for research projects. These initiatives, which are also supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB), will further entrench Singapore’s position as a leading international Smart City and improve the quality of life in our highly urbanised environment.

CiBEST Seminar

 THURSDAY, 19 NOVEMBER 2015

The National University of Singapore’s (NUS) School of Design and Environment today inaugurated the Centre for Integrated Building Energy and Sustainability in the Tropics (CiBEST) to develop cutting-edge expertise in designing energy efficient and sustainable buildings in the tropical climate. In conjunction with the inauguration ceremony, CiBEST signed four Memorandums of Understanding with JTC Corporation, Keppel Land, Microsoft Singapore, and S3 Innovate Pte Ltd to conduct joint research in the areas of data analytics software, building energy efficiency, energy management and Smart Nation.
