President’s Award for the Environment 2023 – Department of the Built Environment

In recognition of its longstanding commitment towards advancing sustainable development and climate action, NUS has been conferred the prestigious President’s Award for the Environment 2023, Singapore’s highest accolade for environmental sustainability.

One of NUS’s key achievements is being the first local educational institution to develop a plan to improve outdoor thermal comfort under the lead of Prof. Wong Nyuk Hien from the Department of the Built Environment.

Prof Wong and his team are using the campus grounds to testbed solutions to improve outdoor thermal comfort through an extensive high-resolution sensor network with over 50 sensors.

Congratulations, Professor Chandra Sekhar and Associate Professor Tham Kwok Wai, on the publication of their article in the prestigious Science Journal!
