This would include evaluating risk assessments, carrying out regular inspections, audits, identifying legal and university\/faculty requirements and recommending improvements to the safety &amp; health programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPI &amp; Academic Supervisor\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Principal Investigators (PI) and Academic Supervisor<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement, maintain and continually improve his or her lab based Safety &amp; Health Management system in a documented manner in accordance with the applicable legislative and NUS requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that risk assessments are conducted and procedures are established for all laboratory activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStaff &amp; Students\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Staff and Students<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Comply with all S &amp; H rules and regulations of the laboratory, department and NUS.<\/li>\n<li>Attend the relevant training courses organized by the department and ORMC with certification.<\/li>\n<li>Reporting to their PIs or supervisors on hazards, near misses, incidents or accidents in the workplace, classroom, laboratory or on campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tContractors\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Contractors<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To familiarize themselves with the organization WSH management system and hazards involved in the work that they are carrying out.<\/li>\n<li>To take prompt corrective action to remove any unsafe work condition and ensure that there is good housekeeping during and after the work is carried out.<\/li>\n<li>Comply with all S &amp; H rules and regulations of the laboratory, department and NUS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tVisitors\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Visitors<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Comply with all S &amp; H rules and regulations of the laboratory, department and NUS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<!-- \/content -->\n\t<!-- \/tabs -->\n\t<p><em>Note: Some of the links above are accessible to Department of the Built Environment Staff and Students only.<\/em><\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Safety Policy Objective The policy is established to ensure a high standard of workplace safety &amp; health for all staff, students, research partners, visitors, and contractors (stakeholders) in the Department of the Built Environment.
