The CPFM replaced the Construction Management and Economics Research Group (CMERG) which had existed in the Department since 1991.<\/p>\n<p>The reasons for setting up the CPFM include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To enhance the Department&#8217;s ability to host research in project management and construction law because of its physical structure, equipment and academic culture in terms of its complement of academic staff members.<\/li>\n<li>To disseminate research findings in project and facilities management and construction law coming from a hot-bed of research activities and a gathering of great research minds.<\/li>\n<li>To provide a ballast for a research tradition in project management and construction law as well as the continuity needed to establish a healthy research community.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It was envisaged that the Centre would<\/p>\n<p><b>(i)<\/b>\u00a0create a reputation for the Department as having research expertise and experience in project management and construction law;<\/p>\n<p><b>(ii)<\/b>\u00a0attract good research students and scholars to join the Department of Building to pursue a research degree<\/p>\n<p><b>(iii)<\/b>\u00a0attract external research funding<\/p>\n<p><strong>(iv)<\/strong>\u00a0develop and conduct Executive courses for the industry<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Current Director: Associate Professor Goh Yang Miang (<a href=\"mailto:bdggym@nus.edu.sg\">bdggym@nus.edu.sg<\/a>)\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/yang-miang-goh-2529a918\/\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/bdg\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2020\/05\/download.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"22\" height=\"22\" \/><\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The founding Co-Directors:\u00a0 Associate Professor Philip Chan and Professor Willie Tan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CPFM Homepage About the Centre Activities Collaborations People \u00d7 CPFM Homepage About the Centre Activities Collaborations People Our Vision To be a leading international Centre for research and consultancy in Project and Facilities Management and Construction Law. &nbsp;
