Dear students and colleagues

This February, CDE celebrated the achievements of more than 70 College of Design and Engineering faculty who were recognised for excellence in teaching and research at the CDE Awards and Recognition Ceremony for 2023. We gave out the Young Researcher Awards, the Outstanding Early Career Awards, the College Educator Awards, the Teaching Excellence Awards and recognised the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers. Our faculty is the backbone of our College, delivering not just quality research but, as educators, ensuring that knowledge is passed on to the next generation of architects, designers and engineers.

The distinguished history and achievements of the College, leading back to the School of Design and Environment and the Faculty of Engineering, were spotlighted to the nation when the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Heng Swee Keat, launched the new SDE1, SDE3 buildings and the new centre, NUS Cities. The buildings, like SDE4 launched earlier, are monuments that speak to our aspiration for multidisciplinary integration. They epitomise what can be achieved when the best minds in architecture, design and engineering come together.

These achievements by our faculty and researchers are why we should be proud to share with potential students embarking on their University admissions what CDE can bring to them.

Cheers!
Aaron
Dean, College of Design and Engineering
