The Ashay Series
designed by: Annusia Jaybalan

Targeted at children aged from 5 to 8, these family games are a humble attempt to salvage ancient Indian epic tales that are increasingly forgotten in today’s modern times. Combining play mechanics with complexity of narratives, these games offer players an extra layer to their ‘reading’ experience, as every story is now a shared play experience. Each game is designed to reflect each storyline, so that players ‘read’ using colour coordination, repetition and role play. Ancient culture need not give way to merging cultures, but exist in tandem with nascent culture.

Two games were designed; each with differing complexity, for different stories and aimed at different age groups.

Ashay's First Game: Players turn spies on an endless search for hidden characters.

Game instruction booklets are designed storybook style for an easy read.

Ashay's Second Game: Players collaborate to battle monsters, time and terrain!
