Haikal Aziz

"I like things beautiful.

I prefer to make things using my hands, rather than cracking my brain with coding or anything of that sort. I appreciate minimal and simple designs, as you can see with the things that I produce. Sometimes I can be a little ambitious, but I know can trust myself to be logical and rational. I am hardworking, passionate and I hate to let myself down.

My name is Haikal Aziz. I am a traveller, a dreamer."

Light

A collection of table lights inspired by the play of lightness and balance. The project was an exploration of contrast and tension between elements, in terms of form, colour and also weight.

Light is made out of light, thin aluminum pieces, joined together in perfect harmony with bold blocks of copper. Light is a simple, yet elegant set of table lights, for the tablescape.

RACKK

A CD rack, inspired by the beautiful yet simple art of Origami by the Japanese, designed from just one piece of hard paper. Hand cut to precise measurement, scored, folded and finally joint by joints inserted into each other.

The RACKK is folded from a flat, standard, piece, into one of sculptural beauty.

Gnusel

Gnusel is a potato masher that was inspired by the timeless mortar and pestle. The mortar and pestle is iconic. It is simple, and has this quality in weight that is needed in the mashing of the ingredients.

The Gnusel has a pestle and a scraper that aids in mixing the ingredients while mashing. It is a kitchen tool which was also inspired to bring about a fun and playful movement while preparing food, enhancing the whole experience altogether when using it.
