THESIS PULSE
PULSE is a universal smart home controller for the next-generation digital native. A re-imagination into the existence of analog objects as humans live in a world with the ever-increasing ubiquity of technology, a personal token is proposed that serves as a universal tool and ‘the one’ analog medium humans use to interact with digital technology. In a world where physical details and ornamentations are increasingly made obsolete in favour of flatter surfaces and digital interfaces, PULSE is a new-age analog device that taps into the digital sphere while providing the analog tactility of a physical object, appealing to human senses and creating a desirable person-object interaction experience. It is meant to entice users from the typical screen-based user interface towards a screen-less user interface better integrated into our environment.
Être dans la lune
The historical French fragrance and beauty brand celebrates her 190th anniversary through this collaboration to envision a celebratory event in the form of a pop-up store. « Être dans la lune » is a uniquely French phrase that translates to “being in the moon”. It describes a sense of lightness like that of a dream. As such, drawing inspirations from the French culture and the company’s history, the event space was metaphorised to a garden party while incorporating a sense of elegance. The round-a-bout circulation provides unique experiences at every turn, drawing parallels to the three-prong approach in the company’s offerings (fragrance, make up and skincare). The concept was developed to be scalable and adaptable to different contexts, and a new space in accordance to the original concept was developed for a second location.

Strength and Beauty
This exhibition space showcases the unity of the Japanese beauty brand’s multiple sub-brands by expressing the qualities of strength and beauty within, on the outside, and with each other. This is done through a strategic mix of broad and generous design strokes with subtle yet deeply-meaningful details relating to the brand. Together, the space combines form with function. The design was inspired by what beauty means to the brand and to contemporary Japan. Today, beauty is no longer something fragile that is of a distant reach. Instead, beauty is about the personal strength that comes from self-expression and the uniqueness of us as individuals. The concept was further developed and showcased at the 2018 TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference.
