The Division of Industrial Design offers multiple paths to the attainment of an advanced degree in design. Our MDes by coursework or MA/PhD by research offer a range of opportunities suitable for those interested in skill building, professional practice, and leadership, or research, investigation, and scholarship.
Our MDes in Integrated Design will expose you to the multi-faceted aspects of business and how design is integrated across all facets of an organisation. You’ll be provided with a balance of theoretical underpinnings and hands-on practical experience that empowers you to solve wicked problems via the uniqueness of our programme. Each student will spend 2 semesters in part-time residency working on actual projects delegated by corporate staff from one of our collaborative partners. In doing so you'll have the opportunity to work directly with members of that organisation's design team and various stakeholders that may be involved in the particular project.

The Masters of Arts (Industrial Design) and Doctor of Philosophy (Industrial Design) are full-time graduate programmes by research that serve to advance the study of design. Postgraduate research at NUS Division of Industrial Design embraces various areas of design research, across Creative Interaction Design, Design for Healthcare, Service Design, Design Management, and Value-Sensitive Design.
Students are assured to be immersed in their thesis/dissertation projects under the guidance of supervisors who are scholars and domain experts. They employ various modes of design research such as research-through-design that uses the design process and artifacts for intellectual inquiry and research-into-design that studies design as a phenomenon.
