LIANG, Gengchiau Albert

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

Dr. Gengchiau Liang received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from the National Tsinghua University, in 1995 and 1997, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, in 2005. Currently, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at National University of Singapore, Singapore.

Dr. Liang has been involved in the development of a quantitative description of electron conduction through nanoscale systems and work on the nano-scale device physics and simulation for 10 years. His model has been employed for understanding the physical insight of molecular devices such as interface effects and how potential cross the molecular junction using non-equilibrium Greenӳ function (NEGF) approach coupling with density-functional-theory (DFT) and semi-empirical tight-binding approaches. Recently, his research interests include modeling and exploring the device physics and performance of nanoscale electronic and optoelectronic devices including molecular, carbon nanoelectronics, and nanowire devices. In addition, he also focuses on investigating the novel functional devices for low-power consumption applications such as tunneling FETs and NEMS switches, and thermoelectric properties of various nano-materials for the applications on the energy efficient devices.
