Organized in collaboration with the Future Systems and Technology Directorate, MINDEF Singapore, and DSO National Laboratories, AI Singapore announced that it will award up to S$20 million, through the Robust AI Grand Challenge<\/a>, to support give multidisciplinary teams which address challenges related to the increasing use of AI in emerging applications.<\/p>\n

Researchers were invited to propose ground-breaking research ideas that adopt AI techniques to address the following challenge: \u201cHow can we design robust CV systems for AVs that can recover at least 80% of their original accuracy after physical testing-time adversarial attacks?\u201d<\/p>\n

The team, led by Professor Shuzhi Sam Ge, was selected as one of the 5 projects awarded the Stage 1 funding. Their project titled \u201cDevelopment of Stable Robust and Secure Intelligent Systems for Autonomous Vehicles\u201d seeks to harness the collective strengths of machine learning, stable control, and generative AI to develop a robust and intelligent system that can adjust its neural network\u2019s behaviour and characteristics in real- time to counter adversarial attacks in complex environments.<\/p>\n

The grant awards were presented by Mr Heng Chee How, Senior Minister of State for Defence at the Joint Grant Awards Ceremony on 26 July 2023.<\/p>\n

Once again, congratulations to the team of researchers from NUS, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) for receiving the funding for the\u00a0AI Singapore Grand Challenge in Robust AI.<\/p>\n
