{"id":1981,"date":"2018-01-01T16:32:47","date_gmt":"2018-01-01T08:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/ece\/?post_type=nus-news&#038;p=1981"},"modified":"2024-07-31T16:32:59","modified_gmt":"2024-07-31T08:32:59","slug":"associate-professor-mehul-motani-elevated-to-ieee-fellow","status":"publish","type":"nus-news","link":"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/ece\/news\/associate-professor-mehul-motani-elevated-to-ieee-fellow\/","title":{"rendered":"Associate Professor Mehul Motani elevated to IEEE Fellow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Associate Professor Mehul Motani<\/strong>\u00a0has been elevated to IEEE Fellow with effect 1 Jan 2018 in recognition of his outstanding record of accomplishments and contributions to information theory, wireless communications and sensor networks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1982\" src=\" \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/03\/AProf-Mehul-Motani.jpg\" alt=\"Aprof Mehul Motani\" width=\"232\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">With more than 423,000 members in over 160 countries, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/\">Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers<\/a>\u00a0(IEEE) is the world\u2019s largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Associate Professor Motani has made significant contributions to fundamental problems in network information theory, the design and optimization of novel wireless networking algorithms, and more recently, deep learning for healthcare applications. He has also contributed to the IEEE in numerous capacities, including serving as the Secretary of the IEEE Information Theory Society Board of Governors, and as an Associate Editor for both the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory and the IEEE Transactions on Communications. The lasting impact of his research is evident from the over 5600 citations to his publications and their influence on the theory and practice of modern engineering systems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cI am thrilled and honoured to be elevated to IEEE Fellow. I especially want to thank and recognize my super-talented research students and collaborators, some of whom are the most creative and brilliant people I have met.\u00a0 Their dedication to knowledge and research is unparalleled.
