We are proud to share that Dr. Zhang Bo, Research Fellow at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), National University of Singapore (NUS), has been awarded the Student Paper Award (First Prize) at the 13th Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation (IEEE APCAP 2025). His work was co-authored with Professor Chen Zhi Ning, Professor at NUS ECE.<\/p>\n

The award-winning paper presents a theoretical analysis on suppressing guided waves in uniaxial anisotropic metamaterials. The study establishes conditions for wideband suppression using metamaterials described by the Drude model. Notably, the research demonstrates how a metamaterial-based cover (meta-cover) with Drude-model-inspired unit cells can significantly enhance antenna performance\u2014improving radiation pattern un-roundness from 17.6 dB to 5.2 dB and boosting coverage efficiency from 42.4% to 84.7% across the 5 GHz to 6 GHz frequency band. These findings pave the way for more effective and broadband antenna radiation pattern control.<\/p>\n
