Due to the multi-faceted nature of these areas, the group has attracted collaboration from a wide and diverse range of industrial companies and research institutions, both locally and abroad, in applications including but not limited to manufacturing, automation, health science, transport, build environment, financial analysis and other service sectors. The core strengths are on system control methodology, and industrial applications. The current focus of system control methodology includes adaptive systems, switched &amp; hybrid systems, robust control, and nonlinear control. The current focus of industrial applications includes process control for chemical engineering and semiconductor manufacturing systems, precision mechatronics for data storage systems, precision medical systems, unmanned aerial vehicles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Intelligent Systems<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/Helicopter.jpg\" alt=\"Helicopter\" width=\"475\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The research of the Intelligent Systems subgroup focuses on computational and machine intelligence. The core strengths are on computational intelligence based optimization, and machine learning based applications. The current focus of computational intelligence based optimization includes multi-objective evolutionary optimization methods for engineering design problems. The current focus of machine learning based applications includes classification and diagnosis of biomedical signals, machine health condition diagnosis &amp; monitoring.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Robotics<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/Robotics.jpg\" alt=\"Robotics\" width=\"475\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The research of <a href=\"https:\/\/nus-irr.github.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Intelligent Robotics (IRR)<\/a> is centered on AI-driven Robotics. The core strengths are on fusion of machine learning and robotics. The current focus of robotic technology includes humanoid robots, industrial robots, drones, social robots, healthcare robots and autonomous vehicles.
