Congratulations to the 3 teams of iDP students who clinched awards at the International Space\u00a0<\/span>Challenge (ISC) 2024, with one team bagging the competition\u2019s $10,000 Grand Prize! The team comprising Chong Jay-En (Electrical Engineering), Charlyn Kwan (Computer Engineering), Leow Kai Jie (Computer Engineering) and James Wang (Mechanical Engineering) developed a concept solution to mine water (ice) on the Moon for use to both sustain future human visitors and to fuel spacecraft. The team’s novel pressure chamber subsystem is designed for the Moon’s low-pressure environment.<\/p>\n

The team comprising James Hong Jey (Computer Engineering), Devinaa Kumeresh (Engineering Science), Moey Sean Jean (Mechanical Engineering) and Khoo Kye Wen (Electrical Engineering) proposed a spacecraft design focused on orbiting a metallic or \u201cM-type\u201d asteroid using sensors and payloads to capture images and obtain surface samples for compositional analysis.<\/p>\n
