\n\t\tMinor in Innovation & Design: Cohort AY2023\/2024\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

The Minor in Innovation & Design<\/strong> offers students in the Innovation & Design Programme a teaser on basic concepts, methods, and skills that are useful for developing new products, services, and experiences that are of value to stakeholders in real-world problems. It comprises two preparatory courses about user-centred design and value creation in innovation, and culminates in a year-long design project course where students are expected to apply their design knowledge and skills and work together their peers from different disciplines to develop solutions to real problems.<\/p>\n

The requirements of the Minor in Innovation & Design<\/strong> are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Group A – complete ONE<\/strong> of the following:\n

      \n
    • CDE2300 Product Design and Innovation or EG2201A User-Centred Collaborative Design (4 units)<\/li>\n
    • CDE2310\/EG2310 Fundamentals of Systems Design (4 units)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n
Default is CDE2300. Students from College of Design and Engineering and College of Humanities & Sciences should pass the introductory course DTK1234 Design Thinking prior to taking CDE2300. CDE2300 was formerly coded as EG2201A User-Centred Collaborative Design.\n

CDE2310 is targeted at students who intend to work on projects in complex engineering systems.<\/p>\n

These courses can be double-counted toward the cross-disciplinary course requirement for students from School of Computing in Cohort AY2022\/2023 onward. For students from other Faculties\/Schools and cohorts, these courses are counted as unrestricted electives.<\/p>\nThese courses should be completed during Year 1 or Year 2.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    • CDE2301\/EG2301 Value Creation in Innovation (4 units)<\/li>\n
    • CDE2311\/EG2311 Introduction to Space Systems (4 units)<\/li>\n
    • CDE2605R Undergraduate Research Experience (4 units)<\/li>\n
    • CDE2606B\/EG2606B Independent Work (4 units)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n
Default is CDE2301.\n

CDE2311 is targeted at students who intend to work on satellite-related projects.<\/p>\n

CDE2605R\/CDE2606B can be counted as Group B course for students from College of Design and Engineering who are special competition projects only (e.g. FSAE, Bumblebee, RoboMaster).<\/p>\n

Counted as unrestricted elective except CDE2605R which can be used to partially fulfil the internship requirement for Engineering majors.<\/p>\nThese courses should be completed during Year 1 or Year 2.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

 CDE3301\/EG3301R Ideas to Proof-of-Concept (12 units)<\/td>\nGenerally counted as unrestricted elective.\n

This course replaces the design project course in Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Science.<\/p>\n

Students should clear at least one Group A or Group B course prior to CDE3301.<\/p>\n

This two-semester course must be completed during one of the following windows:<\/p>\n
