It comprises two preparatory courses about user-centred design and value creation in innovation, and culminates in a year-long design project course where students are expected to apply their design knowledge and skills and work together their peers from different disciplines to develop solutions to real problems.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/edic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2023\/02\/idp-timeline-MIN-rev2023-1024x536.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"536\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The requirements of the\u00a0<strong>Minor in Innovation &amp; Design<\/strong>\u00a0are as follows:<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>Courses<\/th>\n<th>Remarks<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Group A &#8211; complete <strong>ONE<\/strong> of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>EG2201A User-Centred Collaborative Design (4 units) or CDE2300 Product Design and Innovation (4 units)<\/li>\n<li>EG2310\/CDE2310 Fundamentals of Systems Design (4 units)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"246\">Default is EG2201A. Students who are required to take the introductory course DTK1234 Design Thinking should pass the course before embarking on EG2201A. EG2201A is re-coded as CDE2300 Product Design and Innovation from AY2024\/2025 onwards.\n<p>EG2310 is targeted at students who intend to work on projects in complex engineering systems.<\/p>\n<p>These courses can be double-counted toward the cross-disciplinary course requirement for students from School of Computing in Cohort AY2022\/2023 onward. For students from other Faculties\/Schools and cohorts, these courses are counted as unrestricted electives.<\/p>\nThese courses should be completed during Year 1 or Year 2.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Group B &#8211; complete <strong>ONE<\/strong> of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>EG2301\/CDE2301 Value Creation in Innovation (4 units)<\/li>\n<li>EG2311\/CDE2311 Introduction to Space Systems (4 units)<\/li>\n<li>CDE2605R Undergraduate Research Experience (4 units)<\/li>\n<li>EG2606B\/CDE2606B Independent Work (4 units)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"246\">Default is EG2301.\n<p>EG2311 is meant for students who intend to work on satellite-related projects.<\/p>\n<p>EG2606B\/CDE2605R can be counted as Group B course for students from College of Design and Engineering who are special competition projects only (e.g. FSAE, Bumblebee, RoboMaster).<\/p>\n<p>Counted as unrestricted elective except CDE2605R which can be used to partially fulfil the internship requirement for Engineering majors.<\/p>\nThese courses should be completed during Year 1 or Year 2.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0EG3301R\/CDE3301 Ideas to Proof-of-Concept (12 units)<\/td>\n<td>Course is formerly known as DCP Project.\n<p>Generally counted as unrestricted elective.<\/p>\n<p>This course replaces the design project course in Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Science.<\/p>\n<p>This two-semester course must be completed during one of the following windows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Year 2 Semester 2 to Year 3 Semester 1<\/li>\n<li>Year 3 Semester 2 to Year 4 Semester 1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nCDE3301 <strong>cannot<\/strong> be read concurrently with credit-bearing internship.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Students are encouraged to complete the Minor by end of Year 3 Semester 1 so that those who desire to upgrade to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/edic\/idp\/second-major\/\"><strong>Second Major in Innovation &amp; Design<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0may do so by the end of the same semester and have sufficient runway to complete the Second Major in their subsequent semesters.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the links below for more details about the requirements and recommended semester schedules for various primary majors with the <strong>Minor in Innovation &amp;
