Hello! It is my greatest pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Design and Engineering Scholars programme (D&E-Scholars) at NUS.

The Design Scholars (D-Scholars) programme is an exciting extension of the successful Engineering Scholars (E-Scholars) programme launched in 2019. Both are built upon the strong foundations of the Global Engineering Programme (GEP), first introduced in 2009, and reflect our commitment to continually enhance the academic journey of outstanding students.

Our aim is to attract talented Singaporeans with exceptional potential and offer them an educational experience that brings together the best educational experience that brings together the best educational opportunities NUS offers, with a prestigious, bond-free scholarship. Students admitted to the D&E-Scholars programme consistently demonstrate excellent academic performance, alongside a genuine curiosity and intellectual drive to explore their disciplines and achieve mastery.

A cornerstone of the E-Scholars programme is to leverage on such exceptional academic abilities in order to nurture well-rounded individuals with skills that go beyond academic results. E-Scholars are supported to follow an accelerated honours pathway that allows them to obtain a Bachelor plus a Master degree in 4 years.

Beyond the classroom, we support our students in developing as engaged global citizens. Apart from priority in overseas exchange programmes (SEP), we have partnered with NUS Enterprise to include the internationally-renowned NUS Overseas College Programme (NOC) as part of the E-Scholars programme, where students will gain industrial exposure by interning in technological start-up companies overseas. The enhanced educational experience of the E-Scholars programme also includes exclusive courses tailored to students’ personal aspirations as well as priority placement in NUS’ pioneering Residential College system, which blends vibrant living and learning experiences.

The journey of a scholar is filled with possibilities. To guide them, we have assembled a strong team of award-winning student-centric academic faculty mentors that will provide close guidance to D&E-Scholars throughout their studies.
