We are proud to announce that five ESI Staff, including two of ISEM’s very own faculty staff, Professor Ang Beng Wah and Dr Su Bin, along with Professor Chou Siaw Kiang, Professor Lee Poh Seng, and Dr Roger Fouquet, are ranked in the top 2% of scientists in the world in a recent Stanford study published on 19th September 2025.<\/p>\n

The report was prepared by a team of experts led by Professor John Ioannidis, the Eminent Professor at Stanford University. This is the eighth version of the report, which earlier versions were published in October 2024, October 2023, November 2022, October 2022, October 2021, October 2020 and July 2019.<\/p>\n

The study covers more than 6 million researchers over 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The research team has created a database of the top 2% of world scientists (over 100,000 scientists) on the basis of standardised citation indicators, including information on citations, an individual\u2019s scientific research output or H-index, co-authorship, and a composite indicator for career-long impact.<\/p>\n

Four ESI staff are ranked in the \u201cEnergy\u201d field (with 343,396 scientists in total), and one ESI staff in the \u201cMechanical Engineering & Transports\u201d field (with 150,568 scientists in total). The details of their C-scores and rankings for career-long citation impact till end-of-2024 and for citation impact during a single calendar year 2024 are given in the graphic attached.<\/p>\n
