Abstract

Recently, solid waste creation has increased drastically due to the development in a fast‐moving world. A very large mass of industrial and biotic waste is either incinerated or being use for landfilling, attributing for enhancement in air and water pollution. The three “R”s of waste management (reduce, reuse, and recycle) have deduced themselves to a theoretical topic. However, the time has come when the priority must be given to waste management and sustainable development where, the reprocessing of materials into new functional materials will reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials and reduces various forms of pollution. In this context, the present talk focuses on eliminating adverse environmental impacts of solid wastes by using various industrial by‐products and biotic waste as raw materials for the development of microwave absorber.
In this talk, Dr Sachin will explain his journey of developing the microwave absorbing magnetic material starting from lab level with low yield to industrial and biotic waste derived absorber in bulk. Further, the talk will cover the usage of developed material for the fabrication of RF anechoic chamber in industry and stealth application in defense.

About The Speaker

Dr. Sachin Tyagi is currently a Principal Scientist at the Manufacturing Science and Instrumentation Department, CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation Chandigarh, India. He is also an Associate Professor at the Academy of Scientific Innovative Research (AcSIR-CSIO) at CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh India. He obtained his PhD degree in Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. His main research is focused towards the development of nano-ferrites comprising of hard ferrite and soft ferrite synthesized by different chemical routes methods or from Industrial waste for microwave absorption applications in defense and industries. He is also working in the field of developing probe materials for explosive sensing application. He has published more than 65 peer reviewed articles in SCI journals, 2 book chapters, 60 conference proceeding articles and 1 patent in collaboration with IIT Roorkee and DRDO Chandipur, India. He has delivered more than 50 invited talks and also has worked as technical committee member at many national/international conferences and institutes. He is also actively involved as a Board Studies Member of many academic institutes of India. He is an Executive Council Member of Electron Microscopy Society of India.  Currently, Dr. Sachin Tyagi has received one of the prestigious award of CSIR India namely “Raman Research Fellowship Award 2022-2023” under which he has been given an opportunity to work at the School of Physics and Mathematical Science, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
