The programme offers a compact yet rigorous introduction to core mechanical engineering principles through gateway and foundational courses in areas such as Applied Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Energy and Thermodynamics, Sensors and Actuators, Engineering Design and Modelling, and Manufacturing Processes. Emphasis is placed on developing fundamental knowledge and system-level insight rather than professional specialisation.<\/p>\r\n<p>Through a structured combination of core and elective courses, students gain exposure to how mechanical principles govern the behaviour of physical systems-from structures and machines to thermal-fluid systems and engineered products-and how these systems are analysed, designed, and realised in practice.<\/p>\r\n<p>The Minor in Mechanical Engineering equips students to contribute effectively in interdisciplinary settings within their primary fields of study. The knowledge and skills acquired are applicable across a broad range of areas, including product development and prototyping, robotics and automation, energy and sustainability, manufacturing and process optimisation, biomedical and industrial systems integration, and the analysis of thermo-fluid and structural systems embedded within broader technological solutions.
