These projects could involve a design of a product, a component, an assembly or a system.<\/p>\n<p>Students who selected ME4101B and have been assigned a project\u00a0<strong>will not<\/strong> be allowed to drop the ME4101B course and replace it with ME4101A.<\/p>\n<p>Key tasks: understanding and defining the problem, producing suitable design solutions, fabrication, testing and modifying the original prototype (if any), or coming up with a new prototype, that solves the problem statement.<\/p>\n<p>Learning points: communicating with the client (sponsoring company), understanding and tailoring the product\/solution to suit the client&#8217;s wishes and needs and project management.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended for students who wish to go into the industry, work in teams, or are interested in design.<\/p>\n<p>If 2 or more groups select the same project, all groups will have to compete for it by giving a 5-minute presentation to the company. Send your enquiry to our undergraduate programmes team at <a href=\"mailto:enquire_me@nus.edu.sg\">enquire_me@nus.edu.sg<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/undergraduate\/build-your-own-degree\/enhancement-modules\/undergraduate-research-opportunities-programme-eg2605-urop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP)<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>UROP is an individual academic research project you would undertake typically over two semesters or during the Special Term* anytime after your first semester, but before your final year. Successful completion of UROP counts as a <a href=\"https:\/\/cde.nus.edu.sg\/me\/undergraduate\/beng-me\/curriculum\/\">4-Unit Unrestricted Elective (UE) course<\/a>. UROP is recommended if you are on the Research-focused Pathway (R<em>f<\/em>P) (cohorts AY19\/20 and AY20\/21), but equally so if you simply wish to learn the skills of independent research.
