Twenty-one faculty members from CDE have been named in the 2023 Highly Cited Researchers\u2122 list and among the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds.<\/p>\n

Compiled by Clarivate, the annual list uses quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify researchers who demonstrate significant impact and influence in their chosen field by publishing several highly cited papers during the last decade. The names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top one per cent by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science\u2122 citation index.<\/p>\n

According to Clarivate, Highly Cited Researchers contribute disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and innovations that make the world healthier, richer, more sustainable and more secure.<\/p>\n

The 2023 list includes 6,849 individual researchers from institutions in 67 countries and regions.<\/p>\n

The CDE faculty members named in the 2023 list represent seven departments: Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering and Management, Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.<\/p>\n

NUS Deputy President (Research and Technology) Professor Liu Bin said: \u201cNUS is immensely proud of our outstanding researchers who are making a profound impact through their exceptional work and ground-breaking discoveries.”<\/p>\n

Prof Liu added: “Their dedication to pursuing excellence and pushing the boundaries of research is truly inspiring. As they continue to make significant contributions as scientists, their remarkable accomplishments across diverse fields will play a crucial role in tackling the intricate challenges of our world, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Pendlebury, Head of Research Analysis at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate said: \u201cThe Highly Cited Researchers list identifies and celebrates exceptional individual researchers at NUS whose significant and broad influence in their fields translates to impact in their research community and innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and more secure. Their contributions resonate far beyond their individual achievements, strengthening the foundation of excellence and innovation in research.\u201d<\/p>\n
