Chye Kiang HENG is currently the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) of the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) and Provost’s Chair Professor in the Department of Architecture at National University of Singapore (NUS). Chye Kiang is also the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities (CSAC).
He teaches and researches urban history, sustainable urban design and planning, and publishes widely in these areas. His publications include 8 books, many book chapters and articles in international refereed journals. He has served on the boards of government agencies including Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Housing & Development Board (HDB), Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC), JTC Corporation, Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and is a board director of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). He has also served as advisor to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and University of Hong Kong (HKU) and was a Trustee of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). He is currently appointed Honorary Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and has been appointed Visiting Professor at Hanyang University (Korea), Keio University (Japan), Southeast University, Chang’an University, Xiamen University and Tongji University (China) and The École d'architecture de la ville et des territoires Paris-Est (France). He has served as a jury member in numerous international design competitions and on several editorial boards of international journals. He is also planning consultant to several award-winning urban planning and design projects in Asia.
