Associate Professor Teo Chiang Juay

Vice Dean
Undergraduate Programmes

Chiang Juay TEO received his B. Eng. and M. Eng. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and his Ph. D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is currently the Assistant Dean (Alumni Relations) of the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He teaches core modules and technical electives related to Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics and Propulsion. His research interests include thermal-fluids, microfluidics, hydrodynamics, aerodynamics and aerospace propulsion. He currently conducts research on Detonation Engines for aerospace propulsion applications, the use of superhydrophobic surfaces for reducing flow resistance in microfluidic applications, the use of chaotic advection for heat transfer augmentation in microchannel heat sinks, Wing-In-Ground craft aerodynamics, flow cavitation, cross flow fans for Unmanned Air Vehicles and aeroacoustics. He has previously received several teaching awards, both at the university and faculty levels, such as the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award and the Engineering Educator Award from the former NUS Faculty of Engineering.
