What You Will Learn

The Internet of Things (IoT) is integrating our digital and physical world, opening up new and exciting opportunities to deploy, automate, optimize and secure diverse use cases and applications. The objectives of this course are to: • Familiarize the participants with technologies and concepts associated with IoT • Provide an understanding of the impact of IoT on society and industries Upon completing this course, the participant will be able to: • Describe the components and technologies of an IoT system and their interactions with the physical world • Select the appropriate networking and connectivity solution for an IoT application • Understand the integration of cloud and edge computing technologies with IoT • Qualitatively evaluate the applicability and benefits of IoT for application use cases

Professor Biplab Sikdar

Professor Sikdar is the Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUS, also serving as Director of the Cisco-NUS Corporate Research Laboratory. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA, and has been recognized as an expert in computer networks. His research focuses on Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems, particularly cyber-security. With prior experience as an Assistant and Associate Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he joined NUS in 2013. A recipient of numerous awards, he is esteemed as an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and ACM Distinguished Speaker.
