The College of Design and Engineering (CDE) recently received a S$25,000 gift from The Masonic Charitable Fund - Lodge Singapore.

A gift agreement was signed on 27 January 2022 by Dr Brian Shegar, Chairman of Masonic Charitable Fund (MCF) and Professor Aaron Thean, Dean of CDE.

Dr Shegar said that CDE was chosen by the MCF as the first beneficiary within NUS because it resonates with the origins of Freemasonry that began with the Guilds of Stone Masons, the original architects, engineers, designers and sculptors who built cathedrals, castles and other structures during the Medieval Era .

Dr Shegar presented the cheque to Professor Thean, on behalf of the Masonic Charitable Fund - Lodge Singapore.

The gift will enable the College to award one bursary (of up to S$2,500) in each academic year to help their financially needy students.

The College deeply appreciates the charity's generous support in creating a better future for our youth. The gift is essential to providing an uplifting breeze in support of our students' aspirations.
