The National University of Singapore (NUS) honoured staff members to recognise their contributions and achievements to the University and the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) at a ceremony on Friday, 29 July 2022. Â
The ceremony celebrated recipients of the National Day Awards 2020 and 2021. Professor Aaron Thean, Dean of CDE, graced the ceremony and was joined by other key faculty members from different departments within the College. Â

Recipients of the 2021 National Day Awards, together with the Dean
The National Day Awards are a means of recognising various forms of service and merit. Thirty-eight staff were recognised in two award categories - the Commendation Medal and the Long Service Medal. Â
Recipients of the Commendation Medal have shown commendable performance and conduct while also displaying significant efficiency, competence and devotion to their duties. In 2020, Ms Chin Yuen Yee from the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management (ISEM) clinched the award; Mr Wan Chee Yuen from the Dean's office received the same award for 2021. Â
The Long Service Medal rewards staff members of irreproachable character who have completed at least 25 years of service. One of the awardees, Mdm Marsita Bte Sairan, Management Assistant, Officer of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was awarded the medal in 2020, with a total of 34 years of service to the university to date.
