What You Will Learn

The objective of the course is to understand and apply Construction Law so that a project will be well managed, completed with good quality materials and workmanship and within time and budget.

It seeks to equip project managers, contract managers, and allied professionals to acquire the following knowledge and skills: (a) application of standard forms of construction contracts, (b) application of the Security of Payment Act, and relevant legislation.

With the acquisition of the skills mentioned, a professional would be able to understand and carry out the contractual and statutory obligations and also assert his/her rights. Such compliance with the contract and statutory obligations will result in good management, timely completion of the project within budget.

Assoc Professor Lim Pin

Assoc Professor Lim Pin is a faculty member in the Department of the Built Environment at NUS. He teaches project management law, with research interests that include construction law, adjudication and the Security of Payment Act, and contract administration and procurement. Alongside his academic responsibilities, he is also actively involved as a member of the law sub-committee of the editorial panel for the Institution of Civil Engineers Publishing in the UK.
