The fair was officially kicked off by Prof Heng Chye Kiang (CDE Deputy Dean), Assoc Prof Martin Buist (CDE Deputy Dean for Education), Assoc Prof Darren Chian (CDE Vice Dean for Student Life), Ms Joan Tay (Senior Director, Centre for Future-Ready Graduates), and Ms Lee Shin Yin (Deputy Director, Centre for Future-Ready Graduates). They were flanked by the mascots from CDE and CFG, Wolfram and CeeVee, as they mingled with students and employers alike.

Students were able to connect with a wide range of firms, including prominent engineering and tech companies like Woh Hup and Airbus and major local companies like Singtel and DBS Bank. Start-ups like Armastec, led by a CDE alum, were also present, eager to engage with students seeking internship opportunities.

Aside from connecting students with employers, the CDE Career Fair also offered fringe activities to help them stand out, such as complimentary headshots and one-to-one career advisory sessions. There was also the #DiscoverFutureTech Zone, a tech showcase from employers like Garena and Kingsmen.

“The CDE Career Fair has helped me learn about the options available to me outside of my major. Even though my focus is in Chemical Engineering, I’ve discovered opportunities in other sectors, such as the semiconductor industry,” commented Aditya, a Master’s student in Chemical Engineering.

Bing Jun, a Year 4 Industrial Design undergraduate, was impressed by the range of employers present. “I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of reputable employers present, such as Changi Airport Group, DSTA, and even the Singapore Navy. The Career Fair has given me more confidence for job security and opened my horizons for job choices after graduation.”

CDE is grateful for the efforts of the Centre for Future-Ready Graduates, the Office of Student Life, and all the potential employers who attended, which made the CDE Career Fair 2024 a remarkable success.
