Professor Praveen Linga (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) has been named one of the recipients of the inaugural 2024 GSE Distinguished Scientist Awards by the Journal of Gas Science and Engineering.

The award recognises senior scientists for their outstanding contributions to scientific and technological advancements in gas science and engineering and their strong track record in areas such as gas storage, hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation and storage, and gas hydrates, among others.

Prof Linga is among six awardees from Australia, China, Malaysia, and Singapore who were selected based on their sustained impact in the field through research, mentorship, and contributions to the scientific community. As part of the recognition, each awardee has been invited to contribute an article to the journal.

Professor Linga’s research focuses on clathrate (gas) hydrates, energy storage, carbon dioxide capture and storage, and energy recovery technologies. As founder and head of the Linga Lab at CDE, his work bridges fundamental and applied research, aiming to develop innovative solutions to challenges in clean water, clean energy, and environmental stewardship, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The Journal of Gas Science and Engineering, formerly known as the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, recently adopted its new name to reflect its broader scope in addressing advancements across gas science and engineering.
