CDE at the NUS Alumni Gathering in San Francisco

NUS alumni based in San Francisco recently gathered for a meaningful evening of sharing and networking, hosted at the office of Padlet, courtesy of Founder and CEO Nitesh Goel (Computer Engineering '08), an alumnus of the NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) programme.
Padlet is an online platform that allows users to create collaborative virtual boards for sharing content. The event also featured Girvin Djapardi (Year 3 Mechanical Engineering) and current NOC San Francisco intern at Padlet, who spoke about his internship experience and learning journey in the Bay Area.

Mammosense by Industrial Design alumnus Luke Goh, recognised among top 100 winners out of 7,000 global entries at the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD 2025

Design and innovation grounded in empathy.
Mammosense, a project by Industrial Design alumnus Luke Goh (Industrial Design '24), has been recognised among the top 100 winners out of over 7,000 global entries at the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD 2025.
Previously awarded the National Winner title at the James Dyson Award 2024 (Singapore), Mammosense is a smart add-on for mammogram machines that uses non-contact sensing to make breast screenings more comfortable and personalised for women.
Motivated by his mother’s painful screening experience, Luke developed Mammosense under the guidance of Associate Professor Yen Ching-Chiuan. The solution uses LiDAR technology to digitally map the breast and provide data-driven guidance for radiographers, helping apply just the right amount of compression to reduce pain while maintaining imaging quality.
Luke said, “Winning an iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD for Mammosense is incredibly meaningful to me. It validates the effort to design a more comfortable and accessible mammogram experience. I’m proud that a project grounded in empathy and user insight is being recognised globally.”
Mammosense addresses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #3, Good Health and Well-Being, by improving the breast screening experience and supporting early detection.
