CDE Alumni Mentorship Programme Sharing by the Office of Alumni Relations on 4 November 2022 as part of the inaugural CDE Community Day. CDE Alumni Mentorship Programme is the college’s initiative to build a strong and dynamic relationship between the alumni and student community, one that is mutually beneficial for both the mentor and the mentee.
The aim of the event was to bring together CDE students, mentors and mentee to share their knowledge, experience and lessons learnt. We had Ms Ramya Bhaskar (Engineering ’09) in the first session and Mr Allen Hum (Engineering ’05) in the second session, together with a Mentee ambassador, Ethan Kwong (ME Year 3) to share the importance of the Alumni Mentorship Programme.
Every successful mentorship is built upon a strong mentor-mentee supportive relationship. Embarking on career after graduation can be challenging and being mentored can help mentees to achieve their professional goals and objectives in ways one wouldn’t have otherwise expected. Having a mentor can also help to expand network, navigate a new experience, boost confidence, and potentially open up opportunities. Both parties gain the benefits from the mentoring relationship, make meaningful contributions and work through challenges or to make a decision through conversation, sharing experiences and dedicated time building a relationship.
