Taihan Chen is a Research Fellow in the Urban Climate Design Lab, Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore, where he also completed his PhD. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Atmospheric Sciences from Sun Yat-sen University.
His research bridges urban climatology and urban design, combining field measurement, model simulation, and machine learning to characterise pedestrian-level thermal environments at high spatial resolution. His work quantifies how urban greening and urban form affect the urban thermal environment and outdoor thermal comfort. He is currently extending this framework to city-scale assessment of pedestrian heat exposure. His broader interest lies in translating urban climate evidence into actionable design and planning strategies for sustainable, liveable cities.
