Chen Yang is a Ph.D. candidate in Architecture at the School of Architecture and Design, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), where he also earned his master’s degree in Landscape Architecture. His research interests cover a broad spectrum, including outdoor thermal comfort, architectural heritage conservation, and sustainable urban planning.

Guided by a computational design mindset, Chen Yang integrates interdisciplinary technologies and methodologies, adopting a data-driven approach to investigate the built environment. He specializes in applying natural language processing (NLP) techniques to uncover latent semantics embedded in textual data—ranging from urban policy analysis and planning document evaluation to the mining of user-generated content—with the aim of advancing evidence-based urban design and policy-making.
