CDE receives $100,000 gift from Masonic Charitable Fund and Lion of Erin Lodge

On 5 October 2022, a gift agreement signing and cheque presentation ceremony was held at the National University of Singapore’s College of Design and Engineering (CDE) establishing an endowed bursary, the Masonic Charitable Fund - Sivakumar Murugaiyan Lion of Erin Lodge Bursary.

The new bursary is made possible by a S$100,000 gift from The Masonic Charitable Fund (MCF) and Lion of Erin Lodge to CDE. A generous donation from Lion of Erin Lodge is included as part of the endowed gift from the Masonic Community Foundation.

The gift agreement was signed by Dr Brian Shegar, Chairman of The Masonic Charitable Fund, Mr Bruce Blanckley, Worshipful Master Lion of Erin Lodge, and Professor Aaron Thean, Dean of CDE.

Dr Shegar and Mr Blanckley presented the cheque to Professor Thean on behalf of The Masonic Charitable Fund.

The gift is the third endowed gift The Masonic Charitable Fund has made to CDE in 2022. In January, The Masonic Charitable Fund - Lodge Singapore donated S$25,000 to the College; and in April The Masonic Charitable Fund John William Wilson Bursary donated S$50,000.

Paired with government matching funds, the gift will enable the College to award four bursaries to financially disadvantaged students each year.
